mommy in shower + toddler roaming free + ink pen + couch = Um, yeah. Not. good.
Seems that from now on I'll either be showering only when he sleeps or locking him in the bathroom with me. After I had done my workout video this afternoon I put on Jonathan's Elmocize video to keep him occupied while I showered. Or so I thought. It's worked in the past, but I guess today he was just bored. Or mad at me because I wouldn't let him come in the shower. Either way, once I got out of the shower he came back in the bathroom & was trying to play with the bathtub faucets, etc. and I noticed that he had what appeared to be ink on his arm. I was a little confused as I hadn't had a pen out at all today. It hit me all of a sudden that he'd found a pen somewhere & had done Lord only knows what with it. My first thought was that he'd colored on the walls; oh don't I wish. As you can tell from the photos, he decided that the couch looked like a great place to color! Ack! After a minor freak out on my part, I called my mom to ask her sage advice. She recommended using alchohol & that has worked pretty well. Dad googled "ink on microfiber" for me and came up with this great site. I was hoping the straight alchohol would work, but it looks like I'll be making another pit stop at the store tomorrow for some hand sanitizer. I could have sworn that I had some, but of course I can't find it now.
Oy vey... a new phase has begun. Honestly, I'm surprised it's taken this long to get here.

so cool
I've seen this floating around blogland & thought I'd join in the fun...

i think he's trying to tell me something...
A few minutes ago I was sitting here piddling away on the computer & Jonathan starts asking to dance. In other words, he wants me to put on the music, and then he'll proceed to be adorable & dance around the room. So, of course, I comply with his request. At one point I put on "Crush on You" by The Jets & started singing along. He immediately covered his ears.
What's he trying to say?

so much to do...
so little motivation. I don't know what my deal has been this week but I've been in a bit of a funk; just feeling kind of down. There's no reason, but I've felt that way nonetheless. As a result, I haven't had the motivation to get off my hiney & do much around the house this week. And it shows. The further out of control it gets, the harder it is for me to do something about it. Somehow I need to find the energy to be productive tomorrow. I'm meeting a friend to walk the mall in the morning, but once I get home I need to get busy.
Anywho... here a couple of pics from this day last year. We were on vacation in Missouri. He was such a chunkey monkey!

the first of many, I'm sure
My poor bug fell yesterday & got his first fat lip. ;o( I realized again that I don't do well when someone I love is bleeding. I called Chris' mom & she helped me out. As I was cleaning him up he reached over, grabbed a cookie & stuck it in his mouth. At that point I figured he must be okay! That's my boy. Of course I had to document the "occasion".
Off for a day of scrapping with the girls. I'm really looking forward to the day away. "See" you later!

a sunburn waiting to happen
There's no telling how much money we'll spend on sunblock in Jonathan's lifetime. He's been cursed blessed with several traits that make him highly succeptible sunburn; red hair, fair skin & light eyes. Poor kid really shouldn't be let outside during the day. Sadly there have been a couple of times already this year that I've somehow managed to forget to but sunblock on him. Not good. In no time flat he's red. I've learned my lesson though & now douse him thoroughly if we're going to be out in the sun.
He & I went to my parents house on Monday in an attempt to buy a train table I'd found on craigslist. Unfortunately, the train table didn't work out, but we had a great time visiting with "GaGa" & PaPa". Tuesday we got the pool out & let the little man "swim". If by swimming you mean play with plastic containers in the water. He had a great time though. After some time in the pool he decided to water GaGa's flowers. Do we have a little gardener on our hands? He certainly won't learn anything from me; I have the blackest thumb you've ever seen.

where have you been?
I saw this on All Things Pink & thought it was pretty cool.
This first map is any state that I've ever passed through. Several of them I don't remember, but I'm assuming I've at least passed through as I've been to states above them that you couldn't get to otherwise:
This map is of the states I've lived in. We just hopped, skipped & jumped our way across the good ole US of A.
Create your own & post it on your blog. I'm curious to see...

An amazing thing happened 11 years ago today... Chris asked me to be his wife! If he asked me a hundred times, I'd say yes a hundred and one.
I love you babe!

do you hear that?
It's quiet! After walking at the mall this morning with a couple of friends, I dropped Jonathan off at Chris' parent's house so I could get a few things done around here. Mostly I needed to get caught up on my Bible study homework. Turns out, I'm no better at doing this kind of homework than I was in school. *ducks head*
Until just a few minutes ago the TV was off & the whole house was quiet. It was lovely. I love my little man, but sometimes a little peace & quiet is just what I need. Know what I mean, Vern?

everybody dance now
as promised, here's the video of Jonathan dancing to Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory. Occasionally he'll be about to fall asleep in the car & we don't want him to just yet we'll put this song on and it usually gets him going.
I'm not quite sure what's going on with his hand, but it's funny! Enjoy!

my apologies...
to all who were at the Barnes & Noble in Snellville today around noon. I know you had no desire to hear my child scream like a banshee while you were browsing the books or trying to kick back & relax with a coffee from Starbucks.
The second we walked in the door of the store Jonathan started repeating "toys, Thomas, toys, Thomas" over. and. over. We go to this store regularly for playgroups at the train table in the kids section and he obviously remembers that. Needless to say, when I didn't head straight for the train table all heck broke loose. I was there to buy two books and hadn't really planned to go to the train table. Not a good plan. I finally decided to go back there & let him play for a few minutes. We weren't in a hurry or anything so there was really no reason not to. There were three other little boys already playing back there & Jonathan just stepped right up into the mix. After a few minutes though he started taking some of the trains the other boys were playing with; not in a malicious way, he just doesn't really understand yet the whole sharing concept. We're working on that. When I would give the trains back to the other boys he started whining & crying. So we left. That sent him over the edge. In a misguided attempt to keep him quiet I found him a Thomas book to look at as we went through the store & checked out. I realized later that I was basically rewarding him for his bad behavior. In the heat of the moment that didn't even cross my mind though; I was just worried about the noise. Next time (and I'm sure there will be one) I hope to keep a more level head.
Is this the beginning of the terrible twos? Lord, help me!
