Peas!

We gave Jonathan peas for the first time on Saturday. It took a little getting used to, but as you can see by the end, he was loving it. He was a complete mess when all was said and done, so I've started just feeding him in his diaper; as it's alot easier to clean him up that way.

I think tomorrow we'll move on to something new; maybe carrots or green beans. I can't wait to see how he reacts to the new flavor.

Catching up

Okay, I just had a whole post typed & blogger ate it!!!! I don't feel like typing it again, so I'll just try and post the pictures.

A couple of Jonathan playing in the floor...

Jonathan putting his hands in his mouth while eating his cereal. MESSY!

Grandma & Bevvy came by for a visit today. Bevvy put her hat on Jonathan & I had to get some pictures. The hat's bigger than his head!

5 months!

Jonathan turned 5 months old on Monday, so I thought I'd take a couple of pics to celebrate the big day! Granted, I didn't get around to taking them until today.... but two days won't matter, right? Have you ever seen a cuter little guy? I didn't think so.

I had to go into my OB/GYN's office yesterday to get my blood pressure checked out so they could refill my b/c prescription. Little boy was quite the hit with the other patients and the nurses. He's a bit of a flirt and they all loved it. I got to see my favorite nurse, Carolyn, and let her meet Jonathan. She was such a help to me while I was pregnant with everything that happened, so I was really glad to "introduce" them.

The weather has been so nice lately, temperatures near 80 degrees! Jonathan & I went for a walk around the neighborhood Monday afternoon, and we may go again today. Until next time...

A great day

Today was a great day, it was a "me" day. Chris had to go into the office today, so I dropped Jonathan off at Chris' parents house and went off gallivanting. I had a few errands I needed to run, and then I decided while I was out that I'd do some shopping too. I have to admit, it was really nice to just be out & about by myself. I went from store to store & didn't have to worry about lugging the infant carrier in and out of the car. My little boy is HEAVY I tell ya. He's almost 17 pounds, then you add the weight of the carrier & it's almost more than I can handle. We're about to the point of just taking him out of the carrier & putting him in the cart or stroller; or carrying him of course. I also went and had a manicure & pedicure today. I hadn't had either since August! That's terrible! The pedicure was wonderful, but the manicure wasn't the best, unfortunately. I went in there with relatively long fingernails, and came out with nubs!!! He didn't even ask me if I wanted them shorter or anything, he just started filing, and before I knew it they were gone. ;o( I guess I won't be going there again. There's a really good salon near our house, so I'll try them next.

BIG NEWS!!!!! Jonathan's first tooth broke through the gums today! Can you believe it? Where, oh where, has my little boy gone? I'm going to try and get a picture of it, but any time you pull his lip down to see it, he sticks his tongue in the way, the little stinker. About the only time you can get a good look is when he's crying and, well, I don't really want to promote that. I'm sure you understand.

As for being sick, he seems to be doing much better. We're down to just one breathing treatment a day, and will be weaning him completely this week. The amoxicillin has quite the unpleasant side effect. I won't go into too many details, I'll just say this, he has quite a diaper rash & had to have an "emergency" bath tonight. You fill in the rest.

I really want to work on getting him to nap in his crib during the day. I'm not sure what the difference is for him; but at night he sleeps in there NO PROBLEM. He'll sleep for 8-10 hours at a time, but put him in there during the day for a nap & the best you'll get is 30 minutes. Then he'll cry till you go get him.... and sleep in your arms for like 2 hours!!!! It's hard to get anything done like that. I know I just need to be more diligent & consistent... so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I need to go to bed. The clocks move forward an hour tonight, so I'm losing out on sleep the longer I sit here....

It's official

My little boy has RSV. The nurse said to just keep doing what we're doing (breathing treatments, meds) and they'll check him out when I take him back Thursday morning. I've been doing a little online reading about RSV, and I think for the most part it's not too serious. It can be, if it's not treated. We seem to have caught it pretty early, as when we were at the doctor yesterday his blood oxygen level was 98%, that sounds pretty good to me.

I took a few pictures of Chris giving Jonathan his breathing treatment this evening. He's such a good boy & sits pretty still while it's being done. As you can see, he sat there & watched TV with Daddy.

This kid loves the TV. I think his two favorite shows are The Backyardigans and Oprah. Yes, I said Oprah. I don't know what it is about her, but anytime he sees her come on the TV he smiles a huge smile. It's so cute.

I need to add a prayer request. My friend Kimberly's mother-in-law, Catherine Archer, had to have open heart surgery today, so if you could lift her up in prayer it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'd better get to bed in case I have to get up in the night with little boy....

sick little one

You may remember that we took Jonathan to the doctor a couple of weeks ago for a cough. Well, it had become worse & he was running a little fever yesterday, so back to the doctor we went. My poor little one is sick. :o( Dr. Morgan thinks he may have RSV, she took a couple of nasal swabs (which Jonathan hated) and sent them off for testing. We'll know for sure on Wednesday. While in the office he received a breathing treatment, and he was such a good boy during. He sat pretty still while I held the mask on his face & didn't fuss, I was so proud of him. They sent us home with a machine & instructions to do the treatments every 4-6 hours. He was also given a prescription for amoxicillin (sp?) and predni-something-or-other (it's a steroid). I have to say, smelling the amoxicillin was definitely like stepping back in time, it smells exactly the same as when I was a kid. So far he doesn't seem to mind either medication, so that's a plus. I'm sure the fact that they have "yummy" flavoring helps tremendously.

Well, it's about time for another breathing treatment before we put him to bed. If you think about it, please say a little prayer for the little guy...
