Superfries! & the Muffin Man

So, as usual I've been a slacker blogger lately. I apologize for that. Hopefully I'll have more to say pretty soon.

I thought I'd share a couple of funnies from Jonathan over the last couple of days. We have this book, Baby Face, that he likes. Each page shows children making different faces and he can name each one. The funniest is when he gets to the "surprise" page; he can't say surprise quite right... it comes out "Superfries!" Too cute! I may try and get it on video tomorrow to post. You really have to see it to get the full effect of the cuteness!

Another funny... tonight he'd been in bed about 30 minutes or so & we thought he was asleep. All of a sudden we hear him talking over the monitor. At first we couldn't figure out what he was saying, then we realized he was saying "Muffin Man, Muffin Man"! They had been singing that on the episode of Barney & Friends that he'd watched today. I swear this kid cracks us up more & more every day. I'm amazed at how much & how well he talks. He's not a little baby anymore, that's for sure!

I don't really have any new photos to share, so here's a pic from one year ago today. He's so little! This is one of my all time favorite shots of him.

Okay, time for bed!

Brilliant YouTube video

Someone in my moms group posted this and I just had to share.

At a meeting of the AARP (American Assc of Retired People) they showed a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20 yr old. The contest was titled 'u @ 50'. This video actually won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliant. Take 2 minutes and watch it.

Just a quick post with a pic of my sweet boy from today. I'll try to post something more substantial in the next day or so. Until then... enjoy!

copy & paste?

While trying to decide what to write about the passing of 2008 & anticipation of 2009, I went back & read last year's "New Year's" post.

I talked about some of the goals I had for the new year, and sadly, I think I can pretty much just copy & paste that post here. It seems that out of the four things that I listed, I've really only made any progress in one area... and as of the past few months haven't been doing too great in that either. That area being my weight loss journey. I'm still making strides, though I have a lot yet to learn.

So, I think that instead of trying to come up with new goals, I need to re-focus on the ones I had last year.

Each year, Ali Edwards challenges her readers to choose a word for the new year that will be their "motto" of sorts. I've been having trouble deciding on a word this year. But, while writing this post it hit me.... PROGRESS. I sort of feel I've been standing still this year & haven't made progress in several areas in my life. As is evidenced by my needing to "copy & paste" my goals from last year.

I want to move forward. Now I just need to make a plan on how to make progress in these areas and implement that plan.

Do you have a word for 2009? Do you have goals (or resolutions) that you want to achieve? What are they? How do you plan to make it happen?

i nearly forgot

I nearly forgot to post the pictures from our Christmas get together with Chris' family. Chris' mom & grandma made a great dinner; ham, green beans, potatos, macaroni & cheese, rolls... all the good stuff! After we ate it was time for gifts. Jonathan racked up again, of course. Grammie & Grumpie got Jonathan this great slide! Right now we have it in the playroom, but once it gets warm again we'll move it outside. He loves it!

He also got this cool Geo Trax Airport from Grandma & Bevvy. I tell ya, there's not room for anything else in his playroom. We've already cleaned it out twice & we're on the verge of having to do it again.

Chris' parents bought him a (very much needed) new suit. He's lost a lot of weight over the past year or so; his last suit was a 44 regular & now he's in a 40! I was quite blessed with an AmEx gift card (which I've already used to buy some new jeans & tops) and a gift card to 10Ten Nail Bar. They gave me one for my birthday & I had the. best. pedicure. ever! I can't wait to use it!

And I think our most used gift this year has been the Wii that Chris' grandmother gave us. I swear that might be the best invention since... well, I don't know what. It's amazing. And it gets us up off the couch. Anything that can accomplish that deserves an award of some sort. Mine & Chris' gifts to each other were both games for the Wii. He got Tiger Woods '09, and I got My Fitness Coach. He's been playing his nearly nonstop. I haven't really given mine a try yet; you have to do a fitness evaluation and I just haven't been prepared yet. I kind of played around with it a little on Wednesday, but I didn't have shoes on & nearly hurt myself while doing jumping jacks. How sad is that? I'm really looking forward to using it though as I think it will be a good way to incorporate some different exercises into my routine. Not that I have a routine.... yet. But I'm working on it.

Well, speaking of the Wii... Chris is waiting for me to have a bowling tournament so I'd better get going. I'll be back either later tonight or tomorrow to do a post about New Years. Stay tuned!
