nearly naked golf

Jboy wanted to play outside this evening while Chris was grilling pork chops. Since we're in the midst of Potty Training 2.0 he was running around the house in just his PJ top & big boy undies. It was really hot out, so I decided he could just run around the yard in his "skiddies". A game of "nearly naked golf" ensued. Thankfully for our neighbors, Jboy is the only one who went with the "nearly naked" theme.

So, as I said, we began Potty Training 2.0 on Monday, and so far it's been a great success. He'd been showing more & more signs of being ready so we decided to take the plunge. Again. Instead of the "running around nekkid" method, this time we're going with the big boy undies (that he got to pick out) and trying to potty every 20 minutes. Now, when the timer beeps he says, "Potty Time!". We did have one accident today, but I take a lot of the blame for that. I had forgotten to set the timer after one of his attempts, so if I had, he may have been able to make it to the potty. We're going over to a friends house in the morning for a playdate and I'm not sure we're quite ready to leave the house without a Pull-Up on. Stay tuned...

"I do it myself"

Ah yes, the immortal words of a pre-schooler. Today Jboy decided he wanted to make his own sandwiches for lunch. Well, who am I to stand in the way of his Independence? ;o) For the last couple of days he's been on a "jelly only" sandwich kick. We'll go with it for now, but soon he'll have deal with the PB portion again since he doesn't really eat much meat. Gotta get the protein somewhere, right?

Since this was the youngin's first time making his own lunch, pictures were definitely in order.

Note the tongue placement; very important!

Using the handy dandy Cut-N-Seal from The Pampered Chef. (The best $0 item I've ever bought. ;o) I won it playing Bunco from my friend, Jen. )

The finished product. Didn't he do a great job!? He's growing up so fast.

To those who read my blog via a reader... click over & tell me what you think of the new look? Thanks to Jo-Lynne over at Musings of a Housewife I was finally able to make my background all cute.

30 Day Shred - Day 1

As I said in my last post, today I started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, I mean, I've seen Jillian on The Biggest Loser and she's tough. Holy cow! I started with level one and I couldn't even finish. It's the cardio that gets me, I have no endurance for cardio. Thankfully I've heard from some reliable sources that it does get easier as the days go on. That gives me the motivation to try again tomorrow.

If I don't post for a few days, just know it's because I'm bed bound & can't move. But hopefully I'll be thinner!

a few pics

Chris, Jboy & I took a trip up to Missouri last week to visit my family. We had a good time relaxing & spending time with everyone.

Nearly my entire family lives in one small town, Lebanon, Missouri. (I can't tell you how surprised I am that there's actually a website!) Lebanon isn't exactly a place that you go to for "vacation" as there isn't much to do. We did visit the Route 66 Museum which was fun; they had a lot of neat memorabilia.

On Friday we took a drive out to the Mennonite community and bought a ridiculous amount of baked goods from a store there. Seriously, you'd think we'd never seen baked goods before. Between me, my parents & my sister we bought chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, dinner rolls, jalapeno bread and at least 3 single serving pies. Everything was still warm from the oven and delicious! It would be a bad, bad thing to live so close to that store. After that we drove out to Bennett Spring State Park to visit the fish hatchery. It was pretty neat to see all of those fish & get the chance to feed them. They'd all but attack each other when you'd throw the food in.

The drive is about 12 hours, and this go round Chris decided to drive overnight so Jboy would sleep most of the way. He thought I would sleep most of the way as well, but I just couldn't. I was so worried that he was going to get sleepy & we'd have an accident. Needless to say we were both pretty worn out after the trip up & back. We're supposed to go back up for Thanksgiving and I think we've decided to make it a 2-day trip & stay at a hotel somewhere around halfway. Though, Chris' parents have offered to help pay for airline tickets if we'd like to fly so that's a consideration too. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Anyway, here are a few pics from our trip.

I love this one.

Doesn't he look like an explorer?

I don't know what I've gotten myself into, but I've decided that tomorrow today I'm going to start Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I read about it on a couple of blogs & decided it might be what I need to jump start me back into getting healthy. You remember that post so long ago (all of a month) about my new perspective? Yeah, that lasted about a week. But, now I have no more excuses. Every day that I "messed up" I would just get more & more disgusted with myself. Then the vacation came around & it was just like, well, why bother trying on vacation. I'd already planned with some friends to start the new DVD on June 1, so of course it just made sense to eat as much as possible until then. Well, here it is, June 1. A new day. A new life. I have to do this. (How many times have I said that?) I'm so sick of the negative tape playing in my head. All. the. time. The only way to turn it off is to do something positive. So, here goes...
