cuteness

Have you ever seen such cuteness? (Other than Jboy, of course!)

Seriously? I need one of these. For Jboy, of course. *cough*

Spring Chickens Cake Pops
I've become a bit obsessed with cake pops. I haven't tried making any yet, but after watching this video, I'm inspired.

I'm going to check out her book soon to get some ideas.

What cute/fun things have you seen lately?

Book Beginnings and The Friday Five: Mockingjay

Both excerpts are from Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I found both memes on Proud Book Nerd.

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read making sure you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. Here's mine:

"I stare down at my shoes, watching as a fine layer of ash settles on the worn leather."

The Friday 56 is a fun meme hosted Storytime with Tonya. Here are the rules:

* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you'd like), along with these instructions on your blog or (if you don't have your own blog) in the comments section here.
* Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Here's mine:

"In his hands he holds a piece of thin rope, less than a foot in length, too short for even him to fashion into a usable noose."

If you play along... let me know!

your mission, should you choose to accept it...

is to find affordable, yet cute shoes for a three (almost four!!!) year old boy without losing your mind. The losing of your mind can come in various forms. It could be the lack of affordable, cute shoes or possibly your child running around the shoe store like a crazy person & not listening to a word you say. Either way, the kid needs shoes.

We took Jboy to Stride Rite to have his feet measured a week or so ago and realized that the shoes he's been wearing are about a size too small. Oops! He never complains about them hurting his feet, but surely they can't be comfortable. They had several cute options in there, but they're pretty pricey.

So, yesterday I began the shoe shopping process. Now, it should be noted that I appear to be missing the "enjoys shopping" gene that most females have. Add into that a child that's been struggling with being obedient & therefore just runs crazy in the store & you pretty much have a miserable experience.

We went to five stores yesterday with no luck. Today we went to two more. I had just about come to the conclusion that I was going to have to spend $50 to get a cute pair of shoes. (I know they don't have to be cute, but humor me, okay?) I don't spend $50 on shoes for myself, let alone someone who's going to outgrow them in 6 months (or less). We wound up back at the original Stride Rite & finally found these for $30. Still a ridonkulous price for kids shoes, but more reasonable, in my opinion.

Now, hopefully his feet won't grow for the next, oh, ten years & we'll be good.

video overload

Be prepared for video overload. (I know the grandparents won't mind a bit!)

Friday night was "game night" at our house. There is a great game for the Wii called Just Dance, and the Clavells brought theirs. We all had a great time playing & taking video. Here are some videos of Jboy & the kids playing the game. I love how Jboy really watches the person on the screen & tries to do the dance correctly.

#1 - Who Let the Dogs Out

#2 - I Like to Move It

#3 - Jin Go Lo Ba

Next up are a couple of videos from this evening.

#1 - The Crane (from Karate Kid)

#2 - I called this one "A Tootie Ta". It's a song/dance he's learned at school.

Enjoy!

great post

One of my favorite blogs is It's Almost Naptime. I love pretty much everything she writes, and today's post is no different.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday: Catching Fire

Though I don't do them as often as I'd like, I love these book meme's I find on Proud Book Nerd. This one is from Busy Moms Who Love to Read.

This week's rules:

Open the book to the first page of the 9th chapter and type the first two sentences. If it is a spoiler at all, be sure to put **Spoiler Alert** at the top of your comment (like if the selection announces the death of an integral character or something).

Here's mine:
Someone gives my shoulder a shake and I sit up. I've fallen asleep with my face on the table. - Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

This is the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy, and I can't say enough good things about them. I have never read anything like them, they're amazing. If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend that you do.

If you choose to participate (and I hope you do!) leave a comment here with your teaser (or a link to your blog) and go here also and post a link.

here you come again...

and by "you" I mean "fall". Also known as Autumn. Also known as my favorite season, by far.

We've been experiencing occasional fall-like weather here in the Atlanta area lately. I have to say it's been glorious. There was even a time Saturday morning when I was actually cold. Loved it!

I love fall for a variety of reasons:

* cooler weather
* the holidays are almost here!
* football season (Go DAWGS!)
* new seasons of my fave tv shows

I actually took the time today to create a new Google calendar with all of my favorite shows' premieres & schedules. Yes, I am a dork, but I didn't want to forget anything. :D
As you can see, there is something on almost every night of the week. I will say, I'm glad that Survivor has moved to Wednesdays this season. Now I can watch Vampire Diaries "live" and not have to wait until Survivor is over. Mike & Molly and My Generation are two new shows that I'd like to try watching. Not like I really need anything else to watch but, hey, what can you do?

What shows are you looking forward to this season?
