Weekend getaway with the girls...

This past weekend I went on a scrapbooking retreat with the girls. It was me, Lisa, Rebecca & Laurel; Kimberly was supposed to join us as well, but unfortunately had to miss it due to a car situation. We missed you Kimberly! What a great weekend it was! Lisa and I drove up on Friday and met Rebecca & Laurel who'd been there since Thursday. The cabin was gorgeous! The view off the front porch was beautiful, as you can see from the photo below. The original reason for the getaway was scrapbooking, but Lisa and I both came to the conclusion that we didn't care too much about being productive, it was more about relaxing & enjoying our time away from the kidlets. On numerous occasions we would just be sitting there, doing nothing, and comment about how nice it was to not have to worry about anything but relaxing. This was my first time away from Jonathan for overnight, and I think I did pretty good. The girls may disagree with me considering I called my parents (where he was staying) at least 3-4 times a day. It was just so wierd without him around and I missed him alot. I called Chris a lot too! ;o) Chris left Sunday to go out of town for a business trip, so we overlapped by a couple of days. It was so nice when he got home yesterday. I don't like not being around my family.

I was fairly productive when it comes to scrapbooking too. I made a mini-album using coasters from Red Lobster for Jonathan's "month by month" pictures. I also did two regular pages. I'll take pics & post them soon. I know it doesn't sound like I got a lot done, but like I said, I was mostly there to relax. And apparently eat! We had so much food, and most of it was junk. I think by the time we left Monday morning, just the thought of food made us feel ill. But isn't that part of what vacation is about? Eating junk food till you're sick? Well, if it isn't, it should be.

Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

The view from our front porch. Gorgeous!

A view of our scrapping area from the loft.

What the living room looked like once we put it back together.

I hope that we can continue to do these weekend getaways in the future. It was a great way to unwind & just relax for a few days with no demands on your time.

It seems like I had more to say, but all of a sudden I can't remember what it was. Must not have been too important. Oh well, until next time...

Looks like you all had a great time. I sure was in a funk for not being able to go. I am happy you all had a great time.

It was definitely a great time and I agree whole heartedly that we need to do it at least once a year.
