is to find affordable, yet cute shoes for a three (almost four!!!) year old boy without losing your mind. The losing of your mind can come in various forms. It could be the lack of affordable, cute shoes or possibly your child running around the shoe store like a crazy person & not listening to a word you say. Either way, the kid needs shoes.
We took Jboy to Stride Rite to have his feet measured a week or so ago and realized that the shoes he's been wearing are about a size too small. Oops! He never complains about them hurting his feet, but surely they can't be comfortable. They had several cute options in there, but they're pretty pricey.
So, yesterday I began the shoe shopping process. Now, it should be noted that I appear to be missing the "enjoys shopping" gene that most females have. Add into that a child that's been struggling with being obedient & therefore just runs crazy in the store & you pretty much have a miserable experience.
We went to five stores yesterday with no luck. Today we went to two more. I had just about come to the conclusion that I was going to have to spend $50 to get a cute pair of shoes. (I know they don't have to be cute, but humor me, okay?) I don't spend $50 on shoes for myself, let alone someone who's going to outgrow them in 6 months (or less). We wound up back at the original Stride Rite & finally found these for $30. Still a ridonkulous price for kids shoes, but more reasonable, in my opinion.
Now, hopefully his feet won't grow for the next, oh, ten years & we'll be good.

I LOVE to shop!! I am a deal finder and one of people who shops a year in advance. Micah has an entire fall/ winter wardrobe, and I've got a good bit of stuff ready for next spring/ summer. As far as shoes go, it's a little harder to shop in advance because I don't know what size he'll be in. But I did get him 7 pair of shoes about a month ago when Target had their huge sale. I got 3 pair of play/ school shoes, 2 pair or nicer dress shoes, and a pair of sandals for get this.... $40!! But like I said it was a HUGE sale and the play shoes were like $7 a piece. As far as "real" shoes go, we LOVE Shoe Carnival in Snellville. They ALWAYS have the BOGO 1/2 off going on. We normally get Micah 2 pair of Nikes for around $50...maybe a little more, but you do get what you pay for. Maybe this has helped a little bit :)
I hate shopping, too, and shoe shopping with the three kids is a nightmare! My daughter wants anything sparkly, my son likes to run laps, and the baby doesn't sit still. My sister said the Striderite outlet is much more reasonable at Discover Mills, but I haven't checked it out, yet.
Are there any outlet stores near you? We'd drive to the ones an hour away twice a year to get Stride Rite shoes for my girl. There weren't always many choices in her size, but they were usually half off, and sometimes more.
